Carmen and Reuben have put their hands up to compete on behalf of Waihao Downs School, and they challenge the other local schools and BOTs to enter too. They are really hoping the kids and community get behind them as they take on the hills! Word on the street is that Reuben is a bit of a running machine – he is even rumoured to have taken on the Coast to Coast. Not to be outdone Carmen has claimed to be a former competitive mountain-biker, who just happened to be based out of Christchurch so isn't known well in the local scene……… time will tell! The "Whitehorse Challenge" is an event where teams of two complete both a physical and fundraising challenge. The team will split up, with one completing an 18km run, and the other a 25km mountainbike along some stunning new tracks in Waimate, as part of the "Waimate Big Easy" even, on April 9 this year. Each team will need to raise $500 to enter the challenge, with funds being to disbursed to local, regional, and national charities. The beneficiaries will include Kids Can, South Canterbury Hospice, Centrecare Counselling, Whitehorse MTB Club, and further local groups via the Rotary Club of Waimate.
